Many of you are already pros at getting social and being relevant and active on the different platforms. This is something after 25 years in the business, I fought for a long time and still do really. I have never liked being the center of attention and somehow posting videos didn’t really sound like much fun. But my coaches tell me that it’s not an option it’s a must if you’re going to continue to succeed in this thing called real estate.
Things that make you go hmmmmm. I thought we were in this to sell houses not ourselves but apparently we have to do both. I mean I always knew we had to sell ourselves as far as our marketing, service, expertise, etc. but somehow this felt different. I had to pull my big girl shoes on so to speak and do as Nike says and Just Do It. So over the last year I’ve been slowly but surely testing the waters, researching, and trying to learn and discover as much as I can about it all.
As I experience the growing pains, I figure some of you might be going through the same thing so I wanted to write to you. Here’s a video that I posted the first of this week. It’s certainly nothing fancy, nothing overly professional, and recorded with my I phone in my office after I went for a run. I’m told people want to see the real us and not the staged us so I’ve made an effort to be more “real” as my coach calls it. He says we have to allow others to relate to us personally and not just professionally.
I hope it helped at least give you the confidence to know if I can do it, you can too. And that you don’t have to spend a bunch of money or do anything overly fancy. This video has gotten me 4 leads so far this week! I’ve found the most important thing is to bring some type of value and contribution to the consumers and your followers. At first I was posting photos of homes we’ve sold and talking about all that kind of stuff, lost engagements and followers real quick. People don’t care so much about that type of stuff and they can find that on your website or on the many public real estate sites that we all have access to in today’s market.
