I’m flying to Miami today to take my son to his first NFL Football game. He’s 12 almost 13 and this is a combination Christmas and early birthday present. We are staying a few days and are also booked to swim with the dolphins tomorrow.
Earlier this year I took my 8 year old daughter to Disney for the first time and we did the whole park hopper deal, tea party dinner with the princesses and she got a special princess dress and of course the total make over for dinner.
For spring break next year I’m taking them on a cruise with my grandparents and my brother and his wife.
I’m sharing this with you because as I sit here on the plane with my son who’s now as tall as I am gazing out the window and at him reflecting I realize how none of this would be possible if it weren’t for the business of real estate. I have been able to make well over the six figure income bracket for the last 12 consecutive years even in the housing crash and down market.
If I can do this, you can too. The only differences are the choices and activities one chooses to do every single day. It takes a plan, a schedule, goals, skills, practice, accountability, discipline, a passion and desire.
With these key factors the ceiling is the limit for you. It does take a little time. You have to work your plan consistently for a minimum of four to six months generally to start to see results. And that’s the thing I see so many agents get all fired up with new ideas, skills, and tools. They get ready and get ready and get ready and then finally start and after a few weeks if they don’t see instant results they give up on the plan and say either it doesn’t work or I can’t do this. And before long they’re searching again for another way, another coach, another plan or idea.
The secret ingredient, the magic pill, the answer your searching for is YOU!
You choosing to roll your sleeves up, commit to whichever way of generating business resonates with you and sticking to it for an extended amount of time until you start to see consistent results. The fast track is hiring a coach to teach, mentor, lead, and most importantly hold you accountable to what you set out to do.
If you don’t want to or can’t afford to hire a coach find a friend or an associate to share your plan with and ask them to help hold you accountable. Similar to an exercise partner that meets you for workouts.
It’s tough to go it alone and whenever possible, that’s not the best route to take. Our heads are a scary place to go alone and when we don’t have outside support and accountability many times we stay in our head thinking way too much when we should just be out there taking action.
It’s just a job that has to be done every single day. Treat it that way and you’ll be leaps and bounds ahead of many agents who treat our business more like a hobby or part time job than they do a career. I always viewed myself as an entrepreneur owning a multi-million dollar corporation. This is what you’re really doing. I mean we advertise ourselves as multi-million dollar producers so why wouldn’t we view ourselves as running a multi-million dollar company.
Take a look at your business, your daily routines and activities and if you were the CEO of your company what changes would you make in order to be a highly successful company?
These types of thought processes are what brought me to the point of making the six figures incomes and being able to bring my kids on trips like these.
To afford a half a million dollar home and drive a Mercedes, Why? Because I’m not afraid of hard work and because I’m willing to do what the average person isn’t.
You can too and I challenge you to take it on and do what it takes to make 2013 YOUR year!
