Wow, computers.  Christy goes on vacation, and I leave one blog, and kablam! my Internet Explorer will no longer let me blog.  That’s the only problem I had with it.  I can visit every other stinkin’ web page out there, but I couldn’t open my own blog page.  Still don’t know the problem, but our webdude, Tyler, (like the site?  wanna have him do your site? hooked me up with Mozilla’s Firefox and it’s all good now!

So, what to blog about?  It’s been over a week since my last post and I’m just thinking about mindset.  I mean, that’s what it really comes down to:  What the heck are you thinking about and focused on?

‘Cause guess what?  That’s what you’re going to get.

It’s said everywhere.  I don’t care if you read the Bible, believe the gurus, believe science, believe in the Law of Attraction, or all of the above…one thing is true, said in many different ways:  you get what you focus on, you become what think about, be careful what you wish for, etc. etc. etc.

But, Scott, I’m not wishing for a down market, or my business to go south, or my relationship to be poor, or to have no money.  What’s the deal with that?

To that, I respectfully say bull****.  You may not consciously be doing it, but you’re doing it.

You’re doing it with your thoughts, your words and your very being.

To make it scientific, there’s this thing in your brain called the Reticular Activating System, which basically is a part of the brain that focuses on what you, sometimes unwittingly, “say” is most important.

Example: you want to buy a new car, or you actually buy that car…then you notice how many of those cars seem to suddenly appear on the road as if they had a one day giveaway.

You told the RAS in your brain what to focus on, and it found as many of them as it could for you.

Same thing in life and business, except it works when you don’t want something, as well.  You see, even though you don’t want to lose a lot of money, when you keep thinking about not wanting to lose money, you’re telling the RAS in your brain to get you into situations where you will make less, lose, have to spend more, etc.

Race car drivers are told one thing to do if they crash: look away from the wall.  Because no matter how hard you steer away, and no matter how hard you don’t want to hit the wall, if you look at the wall, you’re focused on the wall and will, therefore, steer into the wall.

Same thing with questions.  Give your brain questions to answer, and it will look for them.  So watch out for the “What if this goes wrong?” questions that we all ask each other.  You’ve just programmed your brain to find out what happens if you don’t get what you want, which means you first have to not get what you want.

So, you need to focus on what you want in your life and business, so that you can get more of it.  And it ain’t easy, ’cause your not hardwired to think about the good things.  You’re programmed for survival, so watch out for this, look out for that.

-Ask good questions, that lead to positive outcomes (How cool will it be when I complete this task?, etc.)

-Write down your goals and dreams daily, and read them daily.

-Play affirmations (we have some awesome ones –, then check out our products page)

-Get a coach (again, us!

-Get some partners/friends that think like you, and talk daily (maybe form a mastermind group?)

-Do NOT underestimate the power of your mind.  It will, at most times, look for the negative in all things.  It’s survival.  So, constantly be on the lookout for your negative thoughts, unless you want to bring them to you.
